Breathe In And Out...

Never hurry a Murray!

I don't very often have the chance to blip about topical newsworthy events but today was an exception. (Grand Slam) US Tennis Open champion and Olympic Gold medallist Andy Murray returned to his home town of Dunblane today to say thanks to locals for all of their support. He spent 5 hours (5 hours!) signing thousands of autographs and posing for photos with the tens of thousands of fans who lined the streets of Dunblane today to celebrate his Olympic and Grand Slam success. He had his photo taken by the now-famous pillar box painted gold in honour of his Olympic gold success. And his mum Judy was a total trouper too, following along behind Andy and signing autographs and chatting with the crowds. The crowds waited patiently for all of that time and their turn to share in the celebrations with Andy. This talented young athlete went up another notch in my admiration for his patience and good humour today, for his generosity with his time, particularly for the littlest members of the crowds, and for his determination to sign any autograph that was asked for - the faces of children lighting in delight and awe were a joy to see! This photo was just one of many I could have used but I like it as it shows one person (or a family's) individual, and doubtless treasured, moment with the young champion. Five hours! Never hurry a Murray indeed!
