Nectaroscordum

This is altogether an odd plant that throws up an impracticably tall flower stem, bends over under its own weight and then tries to right itself, so it ends up flopping and twisting around rather lazily. The flowers are beautiful down-turned cups, very attractive to the bees, which turn up vertically when the seed heads form and twist about randomly into the chaotic zig-zags shown here. I'm never quite sure how well it works in the garden, the pretty flowers notwithstanding, but we've given it the benefit of the doubt so far. And the seed heads are admittedly quite curious.
