Ooh la la!!

A lunchtime reception at the town library today for the unveiling of a plaque to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the twinning between the two towns. Speeches were made and then it was time to unveil the plaque, but things didn't quite go to plan. The leader of BANES Council pulled one cord, the Mayor of Libourne pulled the other, but instead of the two flags sliding back to reveal the plaque they slid into the middle, completely covering the plaque! Luckily the French mayor was very tall and stepped in to unveil the plaque in his own unique way. Ooh la la!!

All that flag drama was followed by canapés and Cava, and then the unveiling of a second plaque on the outside of the library, accompanied by a local brass band and more speeches. The second unveiling was much easier though, and far more successful, simply involving the ripping off of a brown paper cover!

And now we're all back home, Chef is busy in the kitchen whipping up one of his gourmet feasts and it's nearly time for Cosmos! Santé!!
