Nicky and her Nikon

End of term

It has been a very busy past 24 hours - last night we enjoyed the Leaver's Concert which was very good as usual, my particular favourite was a young lad's performance of Elgar's cello concerto. This was followed by a very good governors' dinner. It went on later than usual as the chairman of the governors is retiring and so there were more speeches than usual and some gifts awarded. It was a rather late night!

Up early again this morning to be back at school in time for the final chapel service, followed by prize giving. Thomas got a prize which was lovely. Straight after prize giving we had our picnic lunch in the school grounds - thankfully the weather was good, and it was a very pleasant day. Then we went to see the Symphony Orchestra perform their final concert of the year - here is Thomas in action! They performed in the chapel accompanying a soloist on the organ playing Guilmant's Organ Symphony . This was followed by Faure's Pavane and the final piece was Ravel's Bolero - it was all brilliant. Thomas then rushed over to the marquee to join the Big Band who were playing jazz and funk while the parents had tea - they are superb, so professional and what a wonderful way to end the day.

Now we are back home, Thomas has invited three friends over for a BBQ to celebrate the end of the school year, and it will be a quiet night in.
