Jasper!

I think it's a west country or perhaps at least a southern expression, and at school toward the end of the academic year it was not at all unusual for there to be a loud yell of "Jasper!" as an errant wasp wandered in through the opened windows of our classrooms. Everything came to a stop (well, in as far as anything ever got underway in our school) and even the teachers would join in flapping at the poor bewildered beastie.

The appearance of jaspers around the fruit trees seems early this year, but then almost everything in the garden has been early this year. I was fascinated to watch them as they walked over the apple and greengage leaves, snorting up fallen pollen.

Home alone, and all I seem to have done today is potter about. It's golden hour outside right now, and the long shadows are blending with the golds and greens of a summer evening. I ought to be out there, photographising... But hey, at least the camper van sailed through its MOT again.
