The Good Host

Phew! What a night it's been!

As you know, times are tough for us at work at the moment. Our funding’s been drastically reduced and our future is uncertain. But our friends have rallied round to help us raise funds so that Liverpool Mental Health Festival can go ahead as planned this October.

Tonight, the good people at Launch22 www.launch22.co.uk hosted a fundraiser for us at their fabulous skyline premises on Tithebarn Street.

The night was the brainchild of the lovely Dave McTague (the splendidly bearded and be-hatted gentleman in one of my Extra Photos, and a previous Blip subject of mine https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2108309403143768475 ) and we were treated to a jaw-droppingly good lineup of local musicians, who all gave their services for free.

Huge thanks to:

Mel Bowen
Dave Owen and Anwar Ali
Girls With No Faces
Matthew McGurty (he of the flowing Cavalier locks, in my other Extra Photo)
Jason Baxter
Hannah Kewn

Thanks are also due to the visual artists who donated fantastic pieces of artwork for an auction, with all funds raised going towards the Mental Health Festival.

Steve Butler-Boycott
Jazamin Sinclair
Cate Simmons
Ben Youdan
Mook Loxley
Sarah Kitty Fuller
Fran Meath

We don't know how much money was raised yet but I know everyone's spirits were certainly raised by the amount of love in the room. I'm truly touched that people wanted to do this for us!

Today's Blip is of the above-mentioned Jason Baxter. He played solo tonight - absolutely brilliantly - as well as acting as sound-person for all the other acts, but he's also the leader of local band The Good Host. Check them out here www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M1A23cuI7o playing, ‘The Son’, one of the songs which Jason performed tonight. See how many Liverpool locations you can spot in this video, including the late lamented Mello Mello.

I'm away over the weekend with limited internet access, if any… So, have a great weekend everyone, and I'll catch-up with you upon my return! X
