Sunflower power Flower Friday

One of the sunflowers we repotted yesterday is showing early signs that a flower is on its way! We grow sunflowers every year and sometimes they flourish and sometimes they don't.

No matter what the end result my children and I enjoy the process - planting the seed and looking after them before putting them outside. This year a friend took care of them because of renovations we are having so we were able to see the progress on a daily basis. But, now they are in the garden and we can watch and enjoy the transformation.

I guess all experiences can be enjoyed even if the outcome isn't what we hoped. It's the little things that make them special. In this case carrying them from my friends house, replanting them with the compost, getting out hands dirty and finding a suitable cane to stake them.

These flowers are the first bit of life in our newly landscaped garden and I'm sure will feature again as they continue to mature.
