Life through the lens...

By ValC

Too-wit too-woo.

I thought this little owl money box would fit the bill for today's Mono Monday challenge of  " curves ".
Many thanks to 60plus for hosting.

It was bought many years ago from Shelf Pottery.
A local company making stoneware pottery, and started originally by an art teacher, in his garage, as a hobby. He called it Hippopotamus Pottery, and then changed the name to Shelf Pottery when it became a commercial business.
It was made at Hove Edge, Halifax, and sold through pottery parties.
( like Tupperware) and also to shops.
They had a shop at Hipperholme called Hipperpottery, and that is still there I think, although has changed hands a few times.
The pottery went into liquidation in 1998 with the loss of 16 jobs.

Still use my little owl, as I empty my purse of copper and five pence pieces each week.
Surprising how the money mounts up!

Early blip as we are off to our monthly Wine Club meeting, tasting wines from New Zealand. The reds will be interesting.

Thank you for all your kind comments and stars for my thistle flower yesterday.
The tiny beetles were Pollen Beetles ( Meligethes aeneus)
Thank you fellow blipper jobirding.
They usually like yellow flowers, so not quite sure why this purple/pink one would attract them.
