Cumbria Way - Caldbeck to Dalston

The final section of the Cumbria Way for most of the group that I walk with. I still have to catch up the early sections. We walked from Caldbeck to Dalston. The Cumbria Way actually goes another 4 miles to Carlisle but the section from Dalston to Carlisle is fairly unattractive and industrial.

Near to Sebergham there was a vivid reminder of the devastation caused by Storm Desmond in December 2015. Prior to the storm the blip would have shown Bell Bridge, a lovely old stone arched bridge. 18 months on it is still to be rebuilt. For some local residents this means they still have to contend with lengthy diversions.

Near to Sebergham we stopped to admire a beautiful riverside garden. The lovely owner invited us in for a personal tour. If everyone was as friendly and trusting as they were the world would undoubted be a better place.

Rounded off the day with tea and cake in Dalston. Next up on the agenda for this Tuesday group is the Westmoreland Way from Appleby to Arnside.
