A Day of Japan and Spain

We tripped off to London today to see the Hokusai exhibition.

Starting with a very fine lunch at a place in Ealing called Farm W5 (no idea why) we walked and tubed to the British Museum. The exhibition was well worth the visit, albeit there was too much to see (and apparently they only put half the collection on at a time!) and I was ready when it was time to "exit through the gift shop".

We then walked around St James's Park and to Buck House. Pall Mall was decked out in Spanish Flags for the state visit of King Felipe VI and cars were coming and going but who's to know who's inside?

I was mildly amused by the Foreign Office who stated "The UK and Spain have been partners and allies for over 500 years. This week, the UK will welcome the King and Queen of Spain for a state visit." because of course the UK hasn't actually been in existence that long, and for much of the past 500 years we've been at war with Spain - anyone remember The Armada?

Ah, history, how you are subverted for convenience of the new truth. No-one mention Gibraltar... And now, Zzzzzzz. :-)
