On Kinghorn Loch

An almost grown-up chick of 'The Little Grebe' (Tachybaptus ruficollis).

Little grebes are sometimes called 'Dabchicks'.

Yesterday I went to Kinghorn Loch and took about 30 images but I deemed none of them of a good enough standard to blip. I went back this afternoon and came back with another 33 of which about 4 were passable.

There were two families of little grebes where adults were being kept busy meeting the seemingly insatiable appetite of the youngsters. Fortunately there seemed to be a ready supply of small fish at hand to meet that demand.

The other three images can be seen on my Flickr site.
