Doing the Conga

Yes, it was a last minute blip.

George and Kat brought us this delightful cruet set back from Dubai when they visited in February.

Things to note: the figures don't snuggle into each other. A good reflection of the male/female standoff in the Gulf.

I've seen Bedouin women wearing burqas similar to that shown, but not Emirati women. If the face is to be covered, it's usually niqab, so a swatch of black cloth is suspended from the ears and behind the head over the face from below the eyes.

The yellow sunglasses really make me laugh. Sunglasses are worn but usually have much more style.

The set was made in China!

I've arranged them so that she's one step behind. They look as if they're doing the conga.
