Marjorie's ramblings

A day in Slovakia

We had an early start for a long drive into neighbouring Slovakia. The long walking group were dropped off for their 12 mile adventure and I stayed with the short walk group to the lake at Strebske Pleso.

This is a busy ski centre, dominated by an enormous lift. When you see ski jumping on TV you don't have the sense of how high these jumps are.

We climbed up a path to a higher lake. It was very busy there. Our progress was slow. We had to spend time donning rain gear, but I'm glad to say that the storm came to little.

There is an area to commemorate people who died tragically in the mountains. Young lives cut short remembered with fitting memorials.

The return route was through beautiful woods.

A number of walkers on the longer walk said it was one of the best walks they had done - ever!

I almost forgot that today is 2555. I've chosen an image to say that being part of the Blipfoto community is a way of being with friends and helps me to look upwards and go to new heights.
