Life's Little Moments

Street Fight

The yellow jacket wasps have started coming around, much to my dismay.  They chase the hummingbirds and compete for space at the feeders, so basically, they are insect non-grata.  And, while the hummers will feed alongside bumble bees, they are quite spooked by the wasps.  I guess they know, somehow, that the wasps represent a real danger whereas the bumble bees don't.  Anyway, it made for an interesting photo.  The hummer is actually flying backwards in this shot, just one of the many miraculous things they do.

I also got an interesting hi-key shot (accidentally) of an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail that I like quite a lot.  Have a look HERE on FLickr if you'd care to weigh in with an opinion.

Nice long chat with my parents this morning; and now we're getting ready to go pick up MIL to bring her home for Sunday dinner.  Hubs is making spaghetti and meatballs, a specialty of his and a favorite of hers.  The house is already smelling very good.

All progressing nicely in the Monarch Nursery.  I got a small enclosure delivered today  just for M so I can keep him/her separate from the general population.  Found a few more eggs in the garden today, too, so brought those in.  Need to take an inventory of cats and eggs this afternoon.  And if you'd like to see the daily update on the Caterpillar Known as M, click HERE

Happy Sunday, people.
