It was a grand day.

I just received this photo of my son's graduation. It captures our family (plus bump). It records academic achievement on behalf of our son, support and endurance on behalf of  my daughter in law and looks forward to another generation to come. But what will measure his/her success, our future grandchild? Awards and degrees are very important but only in the areas for which they can claim credibility. What is, for me at least, as important, if not more, is the legacy we leave as we move through life - the footprints we impress, the supportive comments we make, the actions we carry outand the silences we keep for the benefit of others. That is the mark of true excellence.
