Islas de Gigantes / Higantes, Iloilo

The main shot shows Cabugao Island of the Higantes group.
The extra shot shows Pulupandan Island of the same group.

According to statistics, Cabugao Island is the 14th most photographed island in the world.

Pulupandan Island ('island of pandan plants') used to boast two coconut trees, but one of them got destroyed during the infamous typhoon Yolanda, a.k.a. Haiyan, on 8 November 2013.  I believe it was the worst typhoon ever to hit the country, and Carles is one of the areas that hasn't sufficiently recovered, in part because a portion of the relief funds so-called intended for Carles are, shall we say, missing.

As you can see, some island-hopping today.  Despite the cloudy skies, no rain where we were.  Hubby swam and snorkeled at every opportunity, I took shots every chance I got.

Finally, I can say I've visited this part of the country.

THANK YOU for the hearts and stars for yesterday's shot!
I am also thankful that for all its simplicity, our tiny resort has offered the best WiFi services this entire trip so far.  Perhaps it might be explained by the fact that the antenna is attached to the top of the tree right outside our cabin.  How fab is that!
