Riley's Garage

In Barker Street, Nantwich. The town is renowned for its black-and-white buildings, but this is a bit off the beaten track. The sign on the gate to the left says: "Any person who omits to shut and fasten this gate is liable to a penalty not exceeding forty shillings." (about £2).

Today was hell! I got an early call saying my Dad had fallen at the care home (it turned out it wasn't a fall really, but he felt dizzy and the two carers with him lowered him to the floor so that he couldn't fall). Diagnosed with breathing problems, he was taken by ambulance to Leighton Hospital, and he was sitting in A&E when I got there, breathing with the help of an oxygen mask while lying uncomfortably on a trolley in a cubicle.

Eventually, after various tests, it was decided that he could return to Clarendon Court, but it took five HOURS to sort out transport (the NHS Trust contracts its daytime transport to West Midlands Ambulance Service - who failed; we finally made it back when the night-time ambulance service took over). Dad was shattered when he got back (just about able to have some soup), and I wasn't much better.
