Sage Vole

I was a bit disappointed with the poor showing when I did my garden birdwatch today, but just as I started to relinquish my post, I saw movement under the sage bush, and this little guy emerged. I think there is actually more than one of these little field voles living in this herb bed but I've yet to see more than one at a time. I also think they've been there for some time, as I've noticed a hole in the past. Despite others thinking they don't stand much of a chance against our garden cats (not OUR cats, I hasten to add) I think they are survivors.
