Entertaining the tourists

I had an absolutely brilliant day. My alarm went off at five o'clock and by half past six I was on my way down to catch the ferry to Mull. When we got there, a coach was waiting to take us from Craignure in the north of the island, down a single track road to Fionnphort in the south.

Once we alighted the coach, it was straight on to a smaller boat and we headed out for Staffa, after an hour on Staffa, the boat then took us to Iona where we had over two hours. This coincided with lunch time so I went to the local restaurant and had a large bowl of Mull Mussels, delicious!

At three o'clock it was time to board a small ferry to get back to Fionnphort and the coach to take us all the way up the island and back to Craignure, where we caught the larger ferry back to Oban.

We were listening to young Finn, aged 10, on Iona as we waited to board the ferry, and I got talking to his brother, aged 11, who wants to be a wedding photographer. Mum and Dad came over and explained that Finn wanted to raise funds for the local village hall while they were staying with friends on the island. The family are actually from Broughton, in the Borders, it's a small world!
