Roslin

After a really nice long lie in, we had a leisurely breakfast sitting in the awning, then sat in the sun reading. Yes, I said SUN! And yes, we are still in Scotland.

It clouded over periodically, but my shorts stayed on. At around lunchtime, no one was hungry, but we had started to get restless, so we took a walk into the village. It is a very narrow road leading to the chapel, which then leads to our site. There were a lot of people queuing to enter the chapel, but at £9 an adult, we will probably give it a miss. We've seen the film, so know what it looks like inside. We went into the co-op and also another small shop, then doubled back and followed the road out of town. There was a sign to the country park. No path, so we had to walk along the road. Jon and Henry were both using their phones to see where we were going, then Henry had the idea to see if there were any geocaches. A set of steps on the opposite site of the road, going steeply down into the valley were attractive, so we crossed. Only one flight down and here they are finding our first of two geocaches today. We went all the way down to the bottom, and followed the river, through the country park, then back up to the remains of Roslin Castle. Another geocache, some photos, then a path up through several cemeteries and we came out next to the chapel! So a circular walk and we were home, by accident!

Lunch, some games, dinner, more reading. The sun is dipping down behind the trees, it is cooling, but relaxed. I suspect we will play more board games tonight, eat chocolate then fall asleep as soon as it gets dark!

Holiday looking good so far....
