Edinburgh, a quick hello!

For those not following my facebook updates, we got away yesterday at about 4.15pm after enjoying a busy day of holiday prep. Mum & Dad arrived in time to have a cup of tea with us, then wave us off with Daniel.

Jon drove, stopping on the A1 for McDonalds at about 6. Then on we pushed until 8pm, when we started looking for a suitable layby to overnight in. Eventually at around 9.30, after coming off the main road, we stopped just past Tadcaster. It was a bizarre experience really. But no one stopped us, and we all slept fitfully. At 7 we got back on the road, stopping at a really nice big service station for breakfast. Bacon baps and tea filled the gap. We stopped later for coffee (made in the caravan this time) and then lunch, and arrived at our site at about 3.

We are sited right next to Rosslyn Chapel, which feature in The Da Vinci code (among other things) and which, by coincidence, we watched last weekend!! After getting the awning up, and relaxing with a cup of tea, we are now in Edinburgh, sitting al fresco in the Grassmarket area, waiting for a pizza. It is VERY busy, noisy, but full of atmosphere. Joanne & Karen may remember we ate here on the Sunday before we came home after our girls weekend. Mollie has gone off with Josh for the evening. Hopefully we will find her in the many crowds and busy streets. For now, we are enjoying the first(slightly drizzly) day of our holiday. Tomorrow we will relax!
