Wound up in Wexford

Dad's chair revitalised

After dad died, we were left with furniture to sort out.  As I mentioned a few weeks ago, initially we took a storage space, and over the last 6 months had taken out a few items.  But the 6 months that we paid for finished recently.  So the rest of the furniture was brought over to clutter up grace our house and office.

Some of the stuff was ours anyway, and we have now either given it away or are using it.  Some was past redemption, and has gone to the tip.

Dad's high backed chair had been recovered by Joyce (his friend) some years ago, but was now quite scruffy (and a little garish).  It couldn't go to charity, partly because of how scruffy it was, but also because it was not "fire-safety certified".  I was reluctant to use it in its grubby state, and for 2 pins would have taken it to the tip.  But W was keen that it should not suffer that fate.  So it has been revitalised and recovered, and is now gracing our lounge.  It may be moved to the garden room.  The footstool (visible in this picture) we had decided to keep anyway, and I suggested it could also be recovered.

They were recovered by a local firm, who have done an excellent job.  My only criticism would be that the seat pad in the chair is a little too firm.  W says he is going to "wear it in" - I think that the quality of the foam suggests this will be a slow business.
