WHERE DID THOSE YEARS GO?

It didn’t seem that long ago that we were celebrating our 60th birthdays with our friends and now suddenly, in the twinkling of an eye, here we were today celebrating their 70th, so where did those years go?

I was glad that I felt better and able to go to their buffet lunch party and the weather was kind to us;  we only had one quick shower, then we were able to go out into the garden again.  It was very windy though, but not cold, so that was a bonus.

Mr. HCB and I are Godparents to our friends’ granddaughter and she was there today and once again we asked the question “Where did the years go?”

It seems no time at all since she was christened and now she is almost a teenager.  We had a good time together and I was happy to show her some good apps on my phone that she says she wants to try, then we went out into the garden to take some photographs.

After a lovely buffet lunch, meeting friends old and new, toasting the birthday couple and generally enjoying the afternoon, I took quite a lot of photographs of the family - it’s not often a whole family is together, so it seemed like a good opportunity.

I had a great time in the garden with our friends’ four grandchildren - taking photographs and videos, some serious and elegant and some downright crazy - with some wonderful silly faces.  Not quite sure we got the jumping video quite right, but it was great fun trying - them jumping, not me!

We shared lots of stories and memories from long ago and before we knew it, the afternoon had gone - so thank you, B & J, for inviting us to your party - we had a great time.

Here is one of the photographs I took of our Goddaughter - I especially liked it in mono.

“There is nothing on this earth
     more to be prized than
          true friendship.”
Thomas Aquinas : 1225-1274

P.S.  Thank you for all your kind comments, stars and hearts for yesterday's Blip by Sammy Squirrel - he is still at large - so it is an ongoing battle between him and Mr. HCB!
