Edgehill

A view over the site in Warwickshire on which the battle of Edgehill was fought in 1642. The visible horizon is about forty miles away apparently, and this is an outstanding view in a part of the country whose geography doesn't usually offer such wonderful viewpoints. The foreground drops dramatically away down to plain beyond. After this walk we visited nearby Upton House, which has a lovely garden sloping steeply down to a large pool, and including a very productive vegetable plot that looks as if it might need climbing equipment to be successfully worked.  You'd think soil erosion would be a tricky problem (maybe it is). The house also has a collection of paintings that is well worth seeing.
