Game Of Chess

It was yet another unpromising day and after our wet day out yesterday, no one was very keen to get moving.  We eventually made our way to Kingston Lacy, a National Trust property and estate owned by the Bankes family.  We had another picnic in the car, before heading to explore the house.  It is certainly a house where no expense was spared and it houses an amazing art collection.  BB and I were very taken with the tented bedroom which is apparently the last surviving ‘tent rooms’ in Europe, painted to resemble the military campaign tents that Napoleon lived in as he waged his wars across Europe.

Once we had made our way around the extensive house, we ventured into the gardens and grounds, and thankfully the weather improved hugely and the sun made an appearance. We went for a walk round the estate to the walled garden, where we wandered in the sunshine.  We walked back to the house and BB spied chess and insisted that he and TT play.  They were playing chess until closing time!

Here is the chess game in progress.
