Baby lizard

A very autumnal feeling day recording plants in Stapleford Wood with the South Lincs Flora Group. There were a surprising number of fungi about, including what may have been Yellow Cracked Boletes as well as some False Death Caps and a rather malodorous Stinkhorn, covered with flies.

In one of the sunny intervals we spotted a group of three baby Common Lizards, basking on a log pile. Unfortunately, shortly after this, just as we'd sat down for lunch, a heavy shower passed over, making it feel very chilly. We eventually dried out and managed to make it back to the cars before the next, much heavier shower arrived.

Turning out of the car-park I got my wheel caught in a very deep pot-hole, and as I was nearing home the tyre pressure warning light came on. Not a good omen...
