Summer blends into Autumn .....

.... that's how it felt this morning as we followed our favourite local(ish) circular walk along the Weaver Navigation and then back along the Trent and Mersey Canal.

Lots of berries and fruits (a lady picking damsons to make damson gin). The swallows and martins getting restless. All sorts of things going to seed. And the rather sour smell of himalayan balsam along parts of the route.

To misquote from the musical Oklahoma, the rosebay willow herb was as tall as an elephants eye, along this stretch of the canal.
