The grizzly bears of Knight Inlet

A final highlight of our visit to Vancouver Island, we have treated ourselves to a boat trip to Knight Inlet, a long arm of the sea stretching into mainland Canada. An early taxi ride to Telegraph Cove and we boarded a speedboat with ten others, for a two hour journey to Glendale Cove where there is a rare area of muddy estuary with dense grassland, and here the Bears gather to feed and await the arrival of the salmon.
We transferred to special motorised viewing platforms for un impeded views!
We spotted the first bears as we arrived, a mother with two two-year old Cubs, and eventually 13!
On the boat ride back, we also saw 6 humpback whales!
