Midtown, Friday night

S and I went to a poetry reading at the St Paul Street Gallery ; part of the NZ Poetry Day activities. One of New Zealand's most well known poets, CK Stead was there to read some of his poems. His time as the New Zealand Poet Laureate ended at 6 pm tonight; this gathering began half an hour later.

I was slightly distracted by being on call for medico-legal issues, and therefore having to be aware if my mobile vibrated. Nevertheless few of the poems read grabbed my attention. A couple of the younger poets who read seemed too intent on shocking.

Afterwards we walked to Queen Street where we could get a taxi, and while waiting for it to arrive, I took this photo of the busyness of the street corner.
