The arrival of spring

Today I drove to just south of Hamilton to see my sister. On the way back I saw a hawk circling over the road and was able to safely stop and get out the camera. By which time the hawk was some distance away. I got one not very good photo, when it was suddenly under aerial attack by a magpie (I think). I have included as an extra, the photo I did manage to get of the start of the final pass by the magpie, before it returned to the trees it had emerged from to start its attack. The hawk then glided fast downwards and out of sight.

Back at the apartment, the newly emerged iris beckoned as my blip.
