Celebrating in style ...

The first time we visited the Hanoi Bike Shop, the Vietnamese restaurant on the site of the original Ubiquitous Chip in Glasgow's West End, we agreed that our oldest grandchild would love it, its food, the chopsticks, the quirky furniture, the friendliness of the service. So today, in celebration of her recent 10th birthday, we went back after a shopping spree in Buchanan Street.

This photo really sums up the fun we had. Her dad wasn't there - at work in Luxembourg - but we decided to allow her mum and sister to come too. We had so many dishes of food that we'd to put the condiments and chopstick container on a stool beside us, and we picked and chose our way through it all. This was taken as we were finishing up - you can see the cup filters for the Vietnamese coffee that we finished with (very dark and bitter, like chocolate) before walking over Gilmorehill for a nostalgic look at our past haunts.

A lovely way to avoid Dunoon at Cowal Games ...
