A Trip to Gairloch

Notebook - Weather forecast, heavy rain moving North.

I decided to go South, round the coast road. To Gairloch.
On the way there were a few showers, but on the whole it wasn't raining and the views from Little Loch Broom to the Summer Isles and the mountains were well worth the drive. The views continued to be spectacular all the way, through Altbea, past Gruinard, and so on with islands and hills and trees and mountains to look at all the way along the journey.

At Gairloch I drove round to The Mountain Coffee Company. Coffee and one of their rather large square scones (apple spice). I like this place. I remembered it from our only previous visit. Nice atmosphere, quirky, veggie, hill walking, climbing, Eastern hippie sort of feel. There is, of course, the connecting door to the Hillbillie Bookshop which really has a very interesting selection of books. I bought two. One was all about Hares with myths and facts and all sorts of things ... for Apothecary7.

Then I walked round the bay. A decent walk, big bay, huge sky type of views, past the free church by the shore, past the golf course, to the harbour which is in a narrow sheltered inlet. The weather just kept getting better. I walked all the way back then refuelled with Russian Caravan tea and a herby cheese scone.

Drove back to Ullapool, stopping several times on the way. It got to 20C.
