Puffin magic

Day 6: started in the rain and an unpromising trip out to the cliffs at Dyrholaey to find some puffins. After standing in pouring rain for some 15 minutes seeing a few fly past we were suddenly rewarded with a whole host coming back to the cliffs. They were so amazing their wings going like crazy to propel their chunky bodies , and close as you will see from the photo so worth getting wet for. We then retraced our way back along road 1 to Hveragerdi and a walk up the valley. Our guide instructions said swim suits and towels were mandatory for a swim in the 'hot river.' The walk up through the beautiful valley took about an hour, past bubbling mud pits and 100 degree streams. Then at the end was the bathing hot river. In we went, not quite 100 degrees but certainly very welcome after the climb. As we sat in the water the heavens opened so we had a lovely rain massage
