Life in Sunny Dubai

Roots

After a morning spent catching up on loads of admin (on the computer), and listening to Radio 4 programmes on iPlayer, we finally ventured out around 5pm.

First stop was Silent Pool, something we pass  very often when travelling on the A25. We've been here before but today it really did look like the weed is getting worse!

This tree with its mangle roots surviving on the edge annoys and fascinates me. Surrey seem to have loads of trees growing precariously on very sloped banks and G is convinced that one day in extreme heavy rain, they are going to give, and these small roads which are lined with them on both sides will not be quite so charming!

But these roots made me think of something a bit more deeper (I'm doing a lot of deep thinking at the moment!) Having never lived in my own native country, I do wonder where my roots really are especially as you can live for ever in Dubai and always be a foreigner never have a permanent abode there! :(

Anyway, we were on our way to Margaret's, who invited us to have Pimms in her garden. Well, not just her garden, the part that is close to the river! She had single handedly got everything prepared and carried loads of nibbles and cushions etc. all the way down. Made several trips! It was good to meet her friend June too. Hours flew as we chatted the last of the light away. Got home much later than anticipated; and now I have to do a bit more admin and preparation for tomorrow.

My extra is of the bridge from Margaret's garden (again). The light today was incredible.
