The odd couple

When we were in Lagrasse with Bundle the other day, we visited the potter from whom we had ordered a jug a mere four years ago. Not because we expected to actually get any result; we'd long abandoned hope of getting a replacement for the lovely green jug (right) that we'd broken the handle of, made by the current potter's now deceased father. But when we went in, S's gaze instantly lit upon a jug on the "reduced for clearance" table (the one on the left). We have a very strong suspicion that this is the potter's unsuccessful attempt at replicating his dad's work. The shape is OK, but the glaze is, well, somewhat amateurish. He was probably too embarrassed to tell us about it. However, we bought it at a knockdown price anyway -- it has a certain rustic charm! And I hasten to add that the pottery they currently produce is much more elegantly decorated than this.
