Where the Light Gets In

Cornered

when you're feeling trapped
and you don't want what's happening
you hide in plain sight

Very last day (for this season) in Brittany. Needless to say we didn't feel like going, but some medical appointments beckoned (what a great way to have to leave a place you like so much, right? ;-) )

It was, as always, as if Sookie knew. Well, of course she knew something was off, as she wasn't allowed out in the morning (we heard enough meowing for a while, thank you very much!). After seemingly resigning herself to that (not without a reproachful meow from time to time, mind you), she elected to hide so we couldn't find her to go back.

Well this time she wasn't too good at it. She just cornered herself in a nook. I approached and made a sign up in the air. She looked surprised and attentive for a few seconds. Well, a few hundredth of a second, if truth be told...

The trip back was uneventful, almost no stopping as we had taken our dinner with us and ate it on the way. Therefore, as there was no traffic to speak of, we made it in record time: 4 hrs 25 mins for 474 km. I do thank the inventor of cruise control!

I didn't even feel tired when we arrived (we put off emptying the car until morning, except for the bare necessities) and listened to a bit of radio. Namely, a programme that consists of a fiction based on historic facts and a talk with a specialist of the period/person. Yesterday, it was about William Shakespeare, the Dark Lady and the writing of The Merchant of Venice. Rather good!
