Pier with no point

Dunoon's lovely Victorian pier has been renovated - or at least this bit has: there's a building off to the right that's still in a sorry state. But there are no ships berthing there. There are in fact no ships, other than PS Waverley, worthy of such a pier - our regular ferries being small pleasure-boat type catamarans that use a slipway at the side of the relatively modern breakwater.

If you look closely you will see that the seats that used to grace the pier have been restored and returned - I discovered them first when I was pushing a pram, and sometimes sat there in the sun (they're south-facing) and think this wasn't such a bad place to live. Today I saw a man clearly enjoying a wander in the sunshine, but to date no plans for the buildings' future use seem to have been approved.

Apparently the sea constitutes a hazard. Well well.
