A Day Worth Recording

Harvington

M & J were off to the H halls today - Harvington Hall and Hanbury Hall.

We'd not been to Harvington before so we thought we'd join them there. Fascinating place, a moated manor house with the topology of an Escher drawing.  Elizabethan, and very much a centre for the Catholic cause - it has the biggest collection of priest holes in the country, some of which were very impressive.

An optional tour is included in the ticket price which was good and we'd not have seen the priest holes without it but it dragged on for two hours partly because of the less than attentive and rather over-sized group and partly the far from concise delivery.  Still I had time to wander off and take photos of neighbouring rooms and not miss anything. More in the extras.
