Big hair day

It was the first day of the Festival Son Miré today (last seen here). We went to the first event in the afteroon, billed  as an immersive experience: inside the  Donjon, the audience of half a dozen sat on deckchairs inside a circle of eight Bluetooth speakers suspended from wires. The master of ceremonies twisted the wires, then let them go so that the speakers spun round while emitting a series of beeps, bloops, and whines. This went on for a while with the sounds evolving and combining in different ways;in the dim light, we all settled in and closed our eyes. It was billed to last ten minutes. After half an hour the MC burst in exclaiming, "It's looped round, you've listened to it twice!" and abruptly switched all the speakers off, waking us up.

We went home for dinner after that, and came back at ten to listen to a duet of piano and viola playing works by 20th century composer Rebecca Clarke in the square outside the Donjon (see extra). There was a surprisingly large audience; we arrived on time, all the deckchairs were taken, and to our great surprise the concert had started early. But the audience was really there for the next event: a short film about a well-known local couple. It was just short monologues to camera as they recounted stories about their youth, interspersed with parts acted out in the streets of the village by young actors. Slight, but very well done.

Blip: I was mesmerised by this trio of big-haired ladies in the audience who seemed to do everything in unison; I guess they were mother and daughters. No idea what they were looking at here, maybe the rising moon?
