Life in a Northern Town

Back Blip - Dubai Marina

The view across The Palm to Dubai Marina - I chose this shot for the contrast between the villas that are all on the branches of the palm, the construction still going on, and the shiny skyscrapers in the distance. The tallest block of building in the world we were told. Building work has stalled in recent years but is now starting up again.

We spent the day at the waterpark, then John and David went across to Abu Dhabi to cycle around the grand prix circuit. While they were gone, Sarah and I took advantage of the 2 hour free alcohol session in the hotel - it nearly killed John to have to leave precisely as the free beer started flowing.  We then went to the Dubai Light Park, which was as OTT as everything in the city; we absolutely loved it, despite it still being over 30 degrees at 9pm and necessary to drink your body weight in water every day.

Sarah braving the leap of faith in extras - I did it, never opened my eyes once.
