Being a tourist

Today has been a big touring day and we covered much ground.

Headed first to The Peak on the Peak Tram and the lookout at Victoria Peak. Persis and Chris loved it and we spent much time up there taking in the views from all sides.

Then back down to Central and a walk through St John's Cathedral where they just happened to be having a flute recital when we got there. How very fortuitous!

We then walked through the HSBC headquarters where they've marked the various stages of the coastline, which used to be right under the building.

They have reclaimed so much land that the coastline is at least 400m out from there. Quite shocking.

We stopped for a quick 'local' lunch before getting on the Star Ferry to Kowloon side and a bus to Mong Kok ladies market where this pic is from. Thought I'd give it a b/w processing.

We walked through most of it AND the Jade Market as well. Then just for the heck of it, I walked them through the wet market in Yau Ma Tei which was a REAL eye opener. No frogs were purchased, but exotic fruit, yes :).

Then took the MTR back to Central to meet up with martin for what else but Crystal Jade at the IFC!! Happy Sandy and Martin and VERY happy Persis and Chris. They loved it and were thrilled with all the yummy things we ordered. YES!

We did stop at Pier 3 to watch the laser light show from Central side.

Been a very good day where we tried to fit in as much as we could.

I did speak to Jon today and pleased to report that he is fine, and very mindful of staying hydrated and fed. Thank you all for your loving concern. It means so much to us.
