Minnesota Holiday ....

Day 2.

Wow! What a fun (and busy) day we have had! And we saw three Bald Eagles!

Our check-in at our resort wasn't until after 4:00 pm this afternoon so we spent some time in the Minneapolis area …. there were a few places that I had read about that I wanted to visit whilst down here.

One of those places was Fort Snelling …. both the historical site and the state park. We went to the state park first to get our first look at the wildlife that Minnesota has to offer. The first thing we saw was a beautiful snow egret. Unfortunately, that was about all we saw at this state park.

From Fort Snelling State Park we drove to the historical site …. the fort itself. We got there too early for the fort to be open but we did walk around a little bit. We actually saw more birds here than at the state park!

The other place that I was looking forward to visiting was Como Regional Park, which includes a small zoo and beautiful conservatory … pictured above. We spent several hours here and even witnessed the lovely couple in the extra having a traditional wedding ceremony.

We finally had to call it quits at this wonderful park and drove up to our resort in Breezy Point, MN! It was on the drive up that we saw the three bald eagles!
