The old St Peter & St Paul parish church , Albury

Today was the British Heart Foundation London Brighton off-road  cycle race- 74 miles which includes the North and South Downs. We were marshalling a busy junction in Shere on the North Downs.  Out of interest you can view the gradient profile here. We were just after rest point 2 and the riders thought they had finished the North Downs - how wrong they were.
After an exciting and exhausting 5 hours of marshalling we went for a gentle walk to find this Grade 1 listed ancient church managed by the Churches Conservation Trust.  It dates back to Saxons times; the repairs are evident.  It was really interesting inside. Pleased to see the locals use it very occasionally for Evensong even though they have to bring a chair - there are no pews inside.
