Only a Grandmother...

...would choose this picture of her grandson's soccer game.I love his happy expression, his confident gaze and the fact that he is actually levitating....I put another one of the hundreds of pictures I took in extras just to prove that he was part of a team. Loved the expressions. They kept their streak going with a 3-1 win.

We had lunch at an Italian restaurant so Owen could have his usual meal...spaghetti with butter and parmesan. I don't know how a child who lives on pasta with butter and parmesan has the energy to run around the soccer field, but he seems to have plenty of that....While the rest of us had gelato for dessert, Owen ate sugar from the sugar packets....

When we went to Los Angeles, Julia and Claire were cleaning out their closets to make room for their school uniforms before school started. They put all their rejects in a big bin bag which we delivered to Maya today. She was far more thrilled with the contents of the bin bag than she was with going to Owen's soccer game, but it was nice that she chose to join us. The second extra is a picture of her as we were heading off to lunch....

We had a nice drive home through a waterfowl reserve, part of San Pablo Bay that has recently been allowed to flow through an opening in the dike to flood the adjacent grasslands. Egrets flew over the causeway, dippers and ducks gathered under the fennel lining the road, and there was even what appeared to be a group of swans out there.

It's been awhile since we've gone to a soccer game. In fact, it's been awhile since we have seen Tim and his family. We had a good time and it was a perfect day weathewise....
