Kawau tui in Tauranga

After last night's disappointing result (although the poor showing by the Greens was not entirely unexpected, we had hoped for a different outcome) the night was made "shorter" by the start of Daylight Saving Time. S and I had to get up at a somewhat earlier hour than we wanted to pack and then drive South and East to Tauranga. The College annual NZ conference is being held Monday to Wednesday this week.

On the way we called in to see my youngest sister, who recently had major surgery. She is making an excellent recovery; even better than the surgeon had hoped. Still a bit more treatment to come probably.

Haven't been to Tauranga for some years; not since the death of my oldest sister. I hope to see a bit of it if the weather is good. It was probably good hunting for these Little Black Shags (Kawau Tui); the grey bill is the easy way to differentiate them from a young all black Little Pied Shag (yellow billed) which was perched to the right of this group.
