Milnthorpe Beach, Golden Bay

Big Sky

We started today with a walk through Milnthorpe Reserve to the beach - I never even knew it was there before. Lovely walk to the beach and then along the estuary and loop back through bush to the car.

Then lunch on the beach at Farewell Spit before a walk along a bit of the Spit and around to the beach at Fossil Point. By the time we got there I'd about done my dash for the day, and we still had the 2.5km hike back to the car in front of us, so we didn't hike down to the far end of the beach to the fossil cliffs. Saving that for another visit when I haven't already trekked through the morning.

All up we hiked a bit over 8 km for the day. Nothing much for fit people, but an achievement for us unfit old ladies.
