A FANTASTIC BLIPMEET TO FINISH OFF A GREAT WEEKEND

After our lovely wedding yesterday, today dawned bright and fair and after a lazy morning we were off for a Blipmeet with GallopingGran and her friend, A.  GG had very kindly invited us for lunch, but said that parking near her bungalow was very limited because of repairs to the road, so we might have to park and walk.

I had a text from her just after 12 noon to say that there was a parking space right outside her gate so we had better hurry!  I nearly asked her to lie down in the road to save the space, but thought better of it.  However, when we arrived and were looking for her house, she came down the garden path and pointed to the cones she had put in place in the road to save the space - what a great lady she is!

She treated us royally, with a beautiful lunch, followed by a home-made apple and blackberry crumble and not just cream, but also ice cream - so as you can imagine, Mr. HCB was in his element.

Then - when we were feeling full to the brim, in came our wonderful hostess with a cafetière of coffee, a cheese board and biscuits.  Well, it would have been rude to refuse either, so we ate and drank some more.  Mind you, the breakfast we had at our hotel wasn’t that filling, so this was a feast and not only for our eyes!

Of course, there was a lot of catch-up chat too, as we hadn’t seen them for about a year, although we do speak on the phone - and we all agreed that next time, we must make it a longer visit.

It took some persuading to get GG, A and Mr. HCB to have a selfie taken, and I really could do with longer arms for selfies, but you can see how pleased we all were to be together.

I wonder if there is any other community like Blip where friendships are made and meet-ups are regular occurrences?  If there are, I have never heard of them.  A special thank you to GG for all her hard work and to A for being there to help too when needed.

We decided to drive home and avoid all motorways, so did just that - and what a pleasant drive it was.  Every time we looked at the M25 when we were near it, we could see it was chockablock so we made a good decision and Mr. HCB followed the instructions to the letter - he’s getting better as he gets older more mature!

"A meal is the whole experience
     of getting together and
          sharing with friends -
               it is more than food."
