Banking west after take off from Calgary

Two fascinating flights today which were both on time and both thrilling. We dropped off the RV at 10.00am this morning; all was well, no damage inside or out. We covered 2100km in the journey from Vancouver to Calgary and used 600 litres of fuel. Very pleased with the whole Canadream experience right from the beginning to when we were picked up from the hotel in Vancouver to when we were dropped off at the airport in Calgary. As with these things it was sad to leave our mobile home for the past two weeks.

We must have been the only people eating a packed lunch in the check-in area of Calgary international airport; we had bread, cheese, carrots and tomatoes left over and were reluctant to throw them away. In the end we wasted very little, only a bunch of celery and an (unopened) carton of milk.

The wait at the airport went quickly and soon we were up in the air making for Los Angeles. Great views from our side of the plane, a selection of which I've posted, including the main blip which is of western prairies shortly after taking off from Calgary bumpy initially which caused a few screams. The route took us over Calgary, south Alberta, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, into north California and across the Central Valley finally over the vast suburban sprawl of Los Angeles, with a glimpse of the Hollywood sign up on the hills.

The short hop from Los Angeles to San Diego took us over the Pacific as the sun was setting. Having cleared US Customs in Calgary transit and exit in San Diego was easy. No problem picking up the car so we were soon on our way to San Marcos, initially with a problem getting to follow the sat nav. We were soon at Chris and De'Shaun's being introduced to the bump that is Landon.
