Like a good deed ...

From the rag-bag of my memory the quotation slipped into conscious thought as I looked out at what seemed the very early gloaming of this dreary day and saw this rose, its single bloom almost luminous in the gloom. So shines a good deed in a naughty world, Portia observed rather prudishly of a lone candle burning in her house. The conversation continues on the theme of contrast and of how setting or circumstance can affect our perception of an object.

So, encumbered by such academic musings, I popped outside in the rain and shot this single, blueish-pink flower of rosa rugosa before retreating indoors to cook the dinner.

I never really cared for Portia ...
