Cattle and Climbing

We woke up to a warm and sunny morning, which is always nice. When it was time for my eleven o'clock, mum said Let's go geocaching! I love it when she says that, because that invariably means we are going somewhere new. Or so I thought.

It turned out she wanted to revisit three caches we found back in May but forgot to log. The thing with those is that they are in a forest which in its entirety is fenced and cattle graze there all summer. But. Mum thought we were safe because a gate was open where we entered, even if there was also a cattle grid. So we happily went off to the first one and signed it. We were going further into the forest, towards the second one. Then mum saw it.

A fresh cowpat. And another one. And then - new huge hoofmarks on the muddy trail. Uh oh. We were right in the middle of the woods. We turned around, leaving the second cache and just did a small detour to this third one. It required climbing up on a big rock which was easy for me but mum got muddy. Very adventurous! And then we were out of there, asap. Phew!

We will now officially leave all geocaches in grazing areas to be searched for during winter.
